Happy blog day!! I'm going to try my best to make a blog post every Monday, which is today!

Right now I am reading through the book of Acts, which truly is such a beautiful picture of how to fully lay down your life and follow Jesus despite the challenges and hardship it may bring you. Paul is such a faithful servant of the Lord who puts aside all of his own comfort and personal regard to follow Jesus and build the Kingdom.

Today I was reading Acts 24, which is when the Apostle Paul stands trial before Roman Governor Felix in Caesarea. Felix wants nothing to do with what Paul is saying when he starts to talk about self-righteousness and self-control. Governor Felix becomes terrified of this conviction and sends Paul away to prison, where Paul then spends two years of his life.

As I was reading, there was one verse that really stuck out, which was verse 25. It says, “As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” Isn’t that the mindset we so often have when we are convicted by the Holy Spirit? That we will act on the conviction when it's convenient for us. We know that we are never promised tomorrow or know what the day will bring; so why wait? The best time to respond to God's word is always now! This goes for both the truth that is presented in Scripture and the conviction the Holy Spirit brings. Procrastination of doing what the Lord is calling you to is just the same as not doing anything at all. When we wait and procrastinate in responding to God’s word and calling, it becomes so much easier for us to rationalize staying where we are. We convince ourselves that we are just fine right where we are and don't need to change or do what Jesus is calling us to.

So don’t wait! Remember that you are not promised tomorrow (Proverbs 27:1), and that when we act on calling and conviction, we deepen our relationship with our Father in heaven! Jesus delights in our obedience and change of heart AND action after we repent. Don’t put off the step of action and do what the Lord is telling you. Be like the Apostle Paul and be eager and ready to follow Jesus even if it isn’t convenient for you. This is something that I have to tell myself all the time, and that the Lord's timing and my timing are not the same. God’s timing is perfect, and when he convicts or calls me to something, I should repent or respond immediately.

So, where is God calling you or convicting you right now that you are procrastinating? Be faithful and obedient, and know that Jesus loves you so much. His timing is always perfect!
